Swedish shanty. A maid's her betrothed sails away. After (three) years she agrees to marry another. He returns just after the wedding, she laments it is too late, she thought he was dead. He says he will be soon, write her a farewell and kills himself.

Swedish shanty. A maid's her betrothed sails away. After (three) years she agrees to marry another. He returns just after the wedding, she laments it is too late, she thought he was dead. He says he will be soon, write her a farewell and kills himself. (In some versions it is the bride who commits suicide.)
